Juni 2009 festgelegt wurde und dessen Hauptort die Basilika „St.Paul vor den Mauern" in Rom ist.Der Erzbischof dieser päpstlichen Basilika in Rom erklärt, wie die Eröffnung vonstatten gehen wird, die Papst Benedikt XVI. selbst vornehmen wird.„Der Heilige Vater wird in die Basilika kommen, um den Anfang des Paulusjahres mit dem offiziellen Akt der Öffnung des Tores der Basilika zu begehen. Dieses ist keine heilige Pforte, da es sich auch nicht um ein heiliges Jahr handelt. Aber wir begehen ein thematisches Jahr, und zwar ein paulinisches, also wird diese Tür geöffnet"Das Programm dieses Paulusjahres wird voller Aktivitäten sein.„Das Paulusjahr besteht aus vielen Aktivitäten, diejenigen liturgischen Charakters oder das Versorgen der Pilger; es wird einen eigenen Bereich geben, ein Zone speziell für die Pilger, die kommen, um das Bußsakrament zu empfangen und zu kommunizieren, und für jene, die die Ablässe gewinnen möchten, die für das Paulusjahr gestiftet sind. Es wird auch ein kulturelles Programm mit vielen Themen geben und verschiedene Aktivitäten für den Empfang der Pilger, ob es einzelne sind oder Gruppen, von denen sich schon viele angemeldet haben."

Rome Bedevaart 2009 - Bisdom van 's-Hertogenbosch

In 2009 bestaat het bisdom Den Bosch 450 jaar. Het bisdom nodigt in dat kader parochies, koren, schuttersgilden,gezinnen,jongeren en ouderen uit om mee te gaan naar de eeuwige stad en daar onder meer de vier hoofdbasilieken, waaronder de Sint-Pieter te bezoeken. Ook staat een audiëntie met paus Benedictus XVI op het programma. Om deze pelgrimsreis naar Rome onder de aandacht te brengen is er begin januari een film van 10 minuten opgenomen met bisschop Hurkmans die zowel het religieuze als het culturele Rome toont.De film is vooral bedoeld om te laten zien wat de betekenis is van Rome en het bisdom Den Bosch, een relatie die binnenkort 450 jaar bestaat. Voor de film is ook in Nederland gedraaid, te zien zijn een jonge bouwvakker, een diaken en de voorzitter van de Brabantse gilden. Het bisdom biedt de film pro deo aan locale TV stations aan om uit te zenden en gebruikt de opnamen voor informatieavonden voor geïnteresseerde parochies.
