I think he believes if he says it enough, it will make it true. The fundamentals of our economy are strong. He sure seems to believe it. Either that or he has literally run out of things to say. What is distressing is that he has admitted that the economy is NOT his strong point - something he has not given much regard to. So, what does he do to counter-balance that?He hires someone who has had absolutely NO national economic experience - and this after kicking out Phil Graham, his previous economic adviser who said Americans were just whining and problems in the United States were psychological. America's problems were in American's 'minds' only.Tell that to the administration which is NOW TAKING OVER THE MORTGAGE LENDERS FANNIE MAY AND FREDDIE MAC.Folks, the fundaments of this Bush McCain economy are NOT strong. He is NOT the person we need to take this country back onto the road of prosperity and McCain Palin, between them, have next to no economic prowess. There you go. If you think that knowledge that is necessary to run this country can be 'downloaded' in 2 months time, then you'll want to vote for Bush/McCain/Palin --If you think, however, that it takes more than just a few talking points from advisers, and indeed takes a strong minded, highly engaged pair of SMART and FUNCTIONAL Economic leaders, you'll think very carefully about that vote of yours. That's all I'm sayin'Oh, and to McCain and his choice of Palin as V.P.Good luck with that.______________________ Sarah Palin John McCain Barack Obama baby affair national enquirer fox story interview allegations lies mortgage crisis Beauty Queen Convention US Hillary Clinton vote voters election 2008 governor gov Bridge to Nowhere beauty pageant Miss NRA pro life anti abortion ANWR Barracuda Wildlife Refuge glass ceiling 18 million cracks speech announcement acceptance fundamentals economy strong freddy mac fanny may Fannie Mae Freddie Mac

ANWR is just another oil rig to her and polar bears, well, too bad she can't just shoot them herself!

Drilling in ANWR could create $600 billion in wealth at today's prices.

With all the hoopla that has been brought up at the RNC around drilling at ANWR, you might tend to think that it is the solution to the US energy woes. However, the numbers don't really support that view.

"...drilling in ANWR has the same effect on the price of oil as would more drilling in Saudi Arabia...."

To take full advantage of the oil resources in ANWR would almost certainly require an extensive network of roads, pipelines and related infrastructure that couldn’t possibly be contained on such a footprint.

Republican delegates in St. Paul this week believe Sarah Palin could provide the tipping point on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Palin fiercely advocates drilling in ANWR. All the while McCain's been running scared on the issue and the Republican platform has been treating it with caribou-kid gloves.

Governor Palin wants creationism taught in science classes, doesn't believe in global warming, wants to open up ANWR, opposes adding polar bears and beluga whales to threatened/endangered lists, and so on. Not a very powerful environmental steward or science supporter.

All in all is 8 % of ANWR really that much? And that's only the part deemed "explorable". The 1.5 million acre argument is a bit of an exaggeration.
