Florante is a famous 1970s Filipino folk singer. He is famous for his classic hit "Ako'y Pinoy". This song promotes a strong sense of nationalism among Filipinos all over the world. The folk song makes every Filipino proud to be Filipino. It may be just another nursery rhyme but it teaches Filipinos to never forget and always be proud of their heritage no matter where they are.Mike Hanopol was with Juan dela Cruz band for at least two years, made six to eight albums until he decided to embark on a solo career in 1976. In 1977, Laki sa Layaw was born. In 1982, he left for the U.S., bid goodbye to his recording career in the Philippines and shifted to jazz while in the U.S..The Juan De la Cruz Band was the first Pinoy rock and roll band in the Philippines. In December 1970, the band was featured in the first open field rock festival in the Philippines, the Antipolo Rock Festival. The state of Juan Dela Cruz's flux and gradual dissolution led Wally Gonzales to reconvene an all-new powerhouse trio, together with Joey Smith (later a.k.a. "Pepe Smith") as singer-drummer-composer; and with singer-bassist-composer Mike Hanopol. The ensuing album by the iconic trio of Gonzales, Smith & Hanopol, unfurling its masterly title track, Ang Himig Natin (translated in English, "Our Hymn"), went on to become the anthem of Manila's post-hippie culture and underground radio network, particularly the DZRJ-AM Radio show, "Pinoy Rock 'n' Rhythm", later on shortened to Pinoy Rock. "Ang Himig Natin" famously rallied Pinoy Rock, which swelled into a movement and provided indicators of its yet-unrealized commercial fuel. The social impact and innovations of the Juan Dela Cruz Band inadvertently became the catalyst for the inception of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and the viability for diverse, originally-authored musical genres to emerge and thrive in the Philippines.Asin (sometimes spelled ASIN, in all capital letters) is a Pinoy rock and folk rock band from the Philippines. They were formed during the 1970s and originally known as Salt of the Earth from the song of Joan Baez, but later Filipinized their name into "Asin", which means salt in Filipino language. Lolita Carbon and female vocalist of Asin is also known as the "female" Freddie Aguilar, taking advantage of the Filipino folk rock boom during the late 1970s. Their eponymous 1978 debut album includes a cover of Freddie Aguilar's "Anak" and the rest are all original works. Some of their popular songs include the environmental song "Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran" (See the Environment) and "Pagbabalik" (Comeback). The Tagalog lyrics of Black Eyed Peas' "The Apl Song" is based on "Balita" (Tagalog for News), one of Asin's songs. "The Apl Song" tells about the hardships of Allan Pineda, member of the Black Eyed Peas, that he experienced during his childhood in Pampanga. He chose "Balita" because he grew up listening to Asin.Freddie Aguilar is a famous Folk musician from the Philippines. He is best known for his song "Anak" (Filipino word for "child") that became a worldwide hit and was released in 56 countries and in more than 26 different foreign languages. It has sold over 30 million copies. The song was also a finalist for the inaugural 1977 Metropop Song Festival held in Manila.Freddie Aguilar left family and school unfinished at the age of 18. His father, who had wanted him to be a lawyer, was disappointed. Freddie traveled to far-away places carrying with him only his guitar. With no one to guide and discipline him, he got into gambling. Realizing and regretting his mistakes five years later, Freddie composed "Anak", a remorseful song expressing apology to his parents. He went back home and asked for forgiveness from his parents who welcomed him with open arms. After his father read the lyrics of "Anak", the two became closer to each other. Being a part of the United Kingdom, Northern Irelands' anthem is, of course, God Save The Queen. EA Sports, however, included The Soldiers Song. National anthem of the Republic of Ireland (or, as most people know it as, just plain old Ireland). As in, the wrong country.

When Rene Marie was asked to sing the national anthem at Denver’s State of the City Address on July 1, she accepted the invitation. Then when she got there, she opened her mouth and to the tune of the “Star Spangled Banner” out came the words, “Lift ev’ry voice and sing…” Was she wrong to substitute the words to the "black national anthem"?
