Hynix claims first dibs on 2Gb mobile DRAM
Memory manufacturer Hynix Semiconductor has started bragging with the fact that it made the "world's first" 2Gb mobile DRAM. Built on 54nm, the 2Gb chip can be used for both SDRAM and DDR DRAM designs, it consumes just 1.2V and has a top speed of 400Mbps.

Santa Clara council approves plans for new Nvidia HQ
Tuesday saw the Santa Clara City Council give its OK for the building of a new home for GeForce maker and breaker, the Nvidia Corporation. The approval will see the chip designer finally start work on its new headquarters which will be located just across the street from its current base, on a property bought earlier this year for $149.5 million.

As just announced, the chip company is preparing to phase out both the tray and boxed versions of the 2.80 GHz Core 2 Extreme X7900 and the 2.60 GHz T7800, 2.40 GHz T7700, 2.0 GHz T7300, 1.8 GHz L7700 and 1.4 GHz L7300 Core 2 Duo processors.
