“Texasee” by Luke Powers is an impressive recent release in the Americana or alternative country/rock style. Each track embodies well-crafted songwriting from Powers, and many feature superb musical performances from guest musicians. Tommy Spurlock, a long time collaborator with Powers... http://www.radioindy.com/bands/5041/

Mississippi's Randy Houser is a newcomer the country music world, the recording side of things, at least. He's been working as a songwriter in Nashville the past few years (most famously co-writing "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" - the Trace Adkins smash). Now on his own, "Anything Goes" is country-rock barnstormer with a touch of New Orleans.

This November, look forward to yet another movie star resting his acting chops and picking up a guitar. Kevin Costner is releasing a debut album with country-rock band, Modern West.

Everlast's reinventions - from West Coast GQ rapper rolling with Ice-T’s syndicate posse to Hell’s Kitchen Irish Hoodlum to country-rock troubadour - have amazed me every time. Not because they’ve been so drastic, but because they’ve been so incredibly successful.

Musician and actor Jerry Reed, best known for his on-screen work in the 'Smokey and the Bandit' movies and some novelty country-rock songs in the 70s, has passed away at age 71.

Most people know Mark Seliger as the famed photographer who shot some of Rolling Stone’s most memorable covers over the last three decades. (That one of Jerry Seinfeld posing as an Elvis impersonator? That was him.) But for the last few years, Seliger has also moonlighted as the frontman for the country-rock group Rusty Truck.

Hey Marseilles will be playing this Thursday at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard along with some other bands I don’t know or care about. While the Tractor Tavern is not a place most people would frequent in Seattle, usually because most people don’t like that feeling of your eardrums about to explode (also, Country/Rock bars make my skin melt);

Limbeck may have never been missing from your catalogue, but its time you've been swoon by the country/rock foursome on their 2007 tour in February. Growing up from their first album back in 2003, Hi, Everything's Great may not have stunned the world, but their persistance has paid off with their release of their self-titled Limbeck.

I was listening to the new Buck Head and Bubba morning show on B94 last Thursday when I had an epiphany. Radio's got it all wrong.That startling realization didn't have much to do with the new show, which I was planning to review for this column. It had a lot more to do with the station's music selection.

For those of you who have yet to hear Raising Sand, it is not "Robert Plant does Bluegrass." Not in the least. However, there is definitely an old school country and country-rock feel throughout this album, which is evident by just looking at the song writing credits. Simply put, Raising Sand is a terrific recording with very high production values
