行政院文建會與中華民國畫廊協會共同主辦的「2008年台北國際藝術博覽會」，訂於8月29日至9月2日假台北世貿中心展覽大樓(世貿一館)盛大舉行，為鼓勵新秀，文建會特於今年規劃「Made In Taiwan-新人推薦特區」，提供我國青年藝術家展出作品。本活動採公開甄選方式，已於日前辦理評選會議，由何委員政廣、張委員元茜、朱委員惠芬、薛委員保瑕、黃委員才郎、曲委員德義、林委員平七位評審就參與甄選之108位年輕藝術家評選出八位藝術家，入選名單為黃沛瀅、何孟娟、賴珮瑜、朱芳毅、張恩慈、賴易志、吳耿禎、邱建仁。文建會表示，該會與中華民國畫廊協會共同主辦之「Art Taipei台北國際藝術博覽會」已屆四年，舉辦以來參展畫廊、產值及參觀人數年年遽增，2007年交易產值即達4.5億元，已成功將台灣藝術產業推向國際，成為重要的國際藝術交易平台。今（2008）年台北國際藝術博覽會將擴大舉辦，場地面積較去年展場面積大一倍，參展畫廊包括國內畫廊共63家與國際畫廊48家，計111家，可謂盛況空前；今（2008）年本博覽會更首度與上海及首爾藝術博覽會聯盟，相信必成為亞太地區的藝壇盛事。文建會第三處處長黃才郎表示，在文化創意產業當中，就視覺產業而言，畫廊產業是個標地。而文建會支持這樣的拓展，是希望能夠在著力市場趨勢、市場的實質掌握和市場的推動之中，不要遺忘年輕的藝術工作者。文建會支持藝術博覽會最大的希望除了能讓文創產業生生不息之外，還希望可以看到因計畫的推動而讓相關從業者產生更美好的前景。而這次新人推薦區的八位藝術家則是由一百多位的競爭者，經過專家評選脫穎而出，均勻分布在各種不同的媒材與表現手法上。文建會希望透過這樣的平台，讓大家繼續推動藝術新人。「Made In Taiwan-新人推薦特區」活動，將在會場另闢專區，展出上述經徵選出來八位具中華民國國籍，年齡不超過35歲，且目前無畫廊專屬經紀合約之國內優秀年輕藝術家參展，並與當代藝術大師Gary Hill（美國）、Jim Campbell （美國）、Pipilotti Rist （瑞士）、白南準（韓國）、陳界仁（台灣）等國際知名藝術家共同展出，藉此為台灣藝術新秀與國際藝術市場提供連結機制，為青年藝術家與畫廊建立橋樑，以達到獎掖新秀、發掘人才的目標。本次展出的作品透露出台灣新生代藝術家，不論在形式或媒材的運用上，皆展現了成熟的思維，同時以自己的方式回應所謂傳統媒材與技術。這些回應部份是關於攝影的。例如賴易志與賴珮瑜都不約而同地抽離了攝影對象的某些特質，而改變了畫面的色調。在賴易志的《空白系列》，顏色與背景被消除而僅剩下位於畫面正中央的靜物；賴珮瑜雖然拍攝城市的風景，卻除去了所有景物而只留下燈光的位置，而成為「完形心理學」的視覺遊戲。部份作品則是回應繪畫傳統，比如邱建仁和張恩慈便展現出跨越繪畫和影像的界線的企圖。他們的作品主題環繞著生活點滴，然而邱建仁的繪畫形式經常呈現出如快門捕捉動態景物的效果，並以黑白和剪影式的圖像強化這一影像特徵，張恩慈的輸出作品則並置了抽象而豐富的質感，和平面的電腦繪製痕跡。朱芳毅將陶磁物件並列在展示牆上，則令我們聯想到「拼貼藝術」對於物件的應用，同時他也經常將物件與背板設計成黑白對比的頻，使得這個裱貼在平面上的形式與繪畫之間有更深刻的對應。黃沛瑩的作品則呈現以新媒材回應傳統的企圖。她以瓦楞紙為主要創作媒材，卻絕少使用瓦楞紙的「平面」，而更專注於它的「厚度」，透過反覆的層層疊疊而結合成量體，回應雕塑的形式傳統。另外，也有藝術家以新的技術處理傳統的題材，例如吳耿禎的剪紙藝術便脫胎自中國的剪紙窗花，他的雕塑作品則以木板的疊層拼合詮釋中國山水畫的意境；何孟娟則用數位影像回應「自畫像」這個重要的藝術主題，並在扮裝配件的運用上對應著文化中女性的各種形象。正如所有偉大的藝術家總是敏感且細緻地看待所處的時代，「台灣製造－新人推薦特區」的年輕藝術家們，正以各自擅長的方式，記錄著這個時代的容顏。文建會黃處長才郎說明：這八位入選「Made In Taiwan」的年輕藝術家，由文建會免費提供每人4乘5平方公尺之展出場地及展板、燈光等設備，另支付每人材料、運輸、包裝、佈卸展費用等計新台幣5萬元，文建會並委託蔚龍藝術公司協助輔導藝術家們進行展覽規劃、文宣行銷等事宜，相信此一展覽必精采可期，歡迎各界踴躍參觀。

慈濟緬甸賑災團，在緬甸陸續進行了稻種，和肥料的發放，三個多月來黑黃的爛泥，變成了綠油油的稻田，這個過程很多居民都見證到了，賑災團住宿的地方--茵雅湖酒店，這裡的許多員工都曾經跟著慈濟志工參與發放，並且走入村莊進行家訪，雖然如此，他們對慈濟仍然存有許多好奇，因此賑災團團員，特別舉辦了一場感恩茶會，向這裡的員工介紹慈濟。要認識慈濟，必須先認識證嚴上人，這場感恩茶會就從discovery台灣人物誌，介紹的證嚴法師開始，翻譯志工在一旁，跟著電視逐字翻譯，希望每個人都能看得懂。一家人的手語表演，已經讓員工相當熟練，這首歌不只拉近慈濟和緬甸的距離，歌詞的內容，更傳達了慈濟愛人，就如同愛自己家人的理念。由於很多員工看到慈濟志工早出晚歸，都感到非常好奇，他們跟著慈濟人一起參與肥料發放，一起進行家訪，在這場感恩會中又透過影片，更加了解慈濟，原來住在這裡的藍天白雲，是這樣有愛心的團體。
