Clogfest 2008 - Wallop!

One of the great railway traditions was to name steam engines after successful racehorses. Sir Nigel Gresley's A4 Pacific, Wallop, was part of this tradition, and set a world speed record of 126mph on 3 July 1938 just south of Grantham, Unfortunately, the Duke of Temperance thought the name "Wallop" had an unsavoury association with strong drink, and the engine was renamed Mallard.

Clogfest 2008 Twostep - Perversity 10/8 Routine

Jean Smith and Ian Craigs started their clog dancing careers with the Newcastle Cloggies. They later became involved in the collection of dance steps through the Instep Research Team and also perform as members of the dance group Instep. During the past seven years they have focussed on developing their own repertoire which consists of both solo and duet pieces. Many of their dances are well known though Ian and Jean have choreographed them in an attempt to create duets rather than solos for two people.

Clogfest 2008 - President of the Morris Federation

In his oration to open the Clogfest showcase, Mr President drew attention to various silly government ideas. A proposal to restrict the use of swords could have meant the end of longsword and rapper dancing, until Sir Humphrey decided that these dances were an historic re-enactment, and so exempt. What will they think of next?

Sun Oak was formed about twenty years ago. Sussex does not seem to have a clog tradition, so they do dances from Lancashire, Durham and Westmorland. Their kit is bright blue skirts and waistcoats, with red linings, and long sleeved white blouses. This is their second visit to Clogfest.
