As locals commemorated Remembrance Day a local man lost his life in while serving in Iraq. Marine Jason Hylton aged 33 lived with his parents Church Gresley near Swadlincote and was serving in the 539 Assault Squadron of the Royal Marines. He was killed by what is described as an improvised bomb on the Shatt al-Arab waterway, Basra.
