Chicago is the greatest place in the world! Between the friendly people, the clean City, the great scenery and the TRAINS, Chicago is my Heaven. This was my first time to Chicago, so My grandmother (or "traveling buddy" because we go everywhere together) rode the Lake Shore Limited to Chicago, and flew a Small B737-500 back. The "Late-For-Shore Limited" kept it's name, being that we woke up in Toledo 2 hours late, and arrived into Chicago almost 3 hours late, 2 hours and 58 minutes. So it was a 21 hour ride, but we had plenty of fun for the 3.5 by 6 ft room. There was the EXTREAMLY Nice Attendent Ira, he helped in anyway possible, and we talked trains at most of the long stops. The friendly passengers that we talked to, and there was the head conductor (who I'm sure was really nice too, but she seemed like a "me, me, me!" person). So we thanked Amtrak for getting us there in one piece, then headed to the Cubs game for the last 3 innings.Then Moday we saw the evening Rush at Metra's Blue Island Vermont Street Station, along with a Iowa Interstate. Tuesday we headed to Blue island again, on seeing 1 Up train in the 10 minutes before dinner we stopped at the jct, we hopped for better. The 1st hour there was NO TRAINS!! The second hour, 2 CSXs, 2 CNs, 1 BNSF, 1 Indiana Harbor Belt, another Iowa Interstate on Metra, and back at Vermont street, 2 Rail Link Gp10s or 9s. THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED US WITH THIS TRIP: Grandma Brennan, uncle Todd, Aunt Kay, Ira the Attendent, Amtrak, And the whole Brennan and Burns familys. Usually, I am thankful for the view at the office. Metra trains chug by and we can see greenery as well as a partially obscured view of downtown Chicago from our sunny office windows. Even watching the expressway can be entertaining, especially when traffic slows to an unenviable crawl. Today, I’d give it all back for a quiet bunker.

Lisle police officials said a man seemed to purposely step in front of a train Wednesday morning at about 7:30 a.m. at the Lisle Metra station. Metra officials said the Metra Burlington Santa Fe Train #1236 was delayed because of the incident. The train was due to arrive at Chicago's Union Station at 8:02 a.m.

An Elgin teenager has been charged in the stabbing and beating of a homeless man during a fight in a Metra commuter parking lot.Arlan J. Stone, 17, of the 500 block of West Highland Avenue was charged Monday with three counts of aggravated battery, police said.

At 5pm we headed out to Chicago's busiest Metra station. As the detainees and guard stayed frozen for three minutes the poem you hear over the video was read. Almost the second we started security was demanding we leave and they escorted us off the block.
