Xavien Delarosa remembers the exact spot where he says the neighbor's pit bull bit him.The 8-year-old was walking home from school on Labor day when he says the dog came out from under this house. "This is where the dog is everyday," said Felis Martinez, Xavien's mother.Martinez says the pit bull lives under the neighbor's porch, on a chain."You don't keep a dog like that, not a pit bull," said Martinez.The dog has been removed because of what it did to Xavien.Although the wounds are healing, the memories are still fresh."I just started running," said Delarosa."He was just red, just sweaty, red and just scared," said Martinez."Yeah, I was crying," said Xavien."He couldn't even talk because he was bleeding out of his mouth. I guess he bit his tongue," said Martinez. "He had blood coming out of his mouth and he had the four bites and we turned him around and he was just red.""I left my homework, I left my shoe, I left my back pack," said Xavien."He made it up here and the dog quit chasing him once he got up the stairs," said Martinez.Xavien was taken to the hospital, and is now back to his old self, but his mother says it was a scare the family didn't need."It could have been prevented. It should have been prevented. If the owners knew that the dog already came loose too many times, they should have done something else," said Martinez.By state law, the dog must be rabies quarantined for 10 days.The owner has surrendered the pit bull to the Brazos Animal Shelter.
