I cover my bare body with my own sheets; I clutch them close to my chest. "What the fuck?" Nick shouts his eyes, like grapefruits. He looks like a stunned cartoon character. He rarely curses so when he does, it kinda just makes you want to laugh at him but in this case it makes me want to cry. Joe and I stay silent. "Were you guys?" Nick lowers his tone. He cant tear his hugely open eyes away from the sight of us.The pair of us are still speechless and far too mortified to address the situation at hand."Were you?" Nick whisper-shouts, careful about his volume now, seeing as it is the middle of the night."Uhhh" That is all I can muster."Oh man! How long has this been going on?" Nicks voice seems a bit lighter now and more amused. I cover my face, embarrassed by the situation and I squeeze my eyes shut, tight. Had I honestly thought that this could go on without the two of us eventually being caught?I cant even look at Joe. Im positive my face is bright red and his must be too. I just submerge myself under the blankets and wish aloud for this to be a dream.Nicholas begins to laugh and I beg him to shut the door. He does after a few more seconds of laughing."The one fucking time we dont lock the door!" I pull my hair then find my scattered clothes and put them on as quickly as possible. I check the clock on my nightstand and find that its past one a.m.Joe shuffles around the room naked looking for his clothes."So what do we do?" I ask him once his boxers and pajama pants are on, correctly."I dont know! Why would I know?!" "Hes your brother; you should know how to handle this!" I whisper, fiercely."Well, Ive never been in this situation before! My kid brother doesnt normally just waltz in when Im having sex!"I try to steady my shaky breathes. "Okayso we just handle this in the mature adult way. We just sit down and have a talk with him about what he saw and whats been going on." I try to calm myself with my words. "Its not that big of a deal, Nicks turning sixteen next month, hes not a baby he can handle this.""Yeah but you cant! Youre having like a mental break down." Joe notices my jittery disposition. I fight the urge to pace all over the room."Im fine." I shake my head and mentally prepare myself for humiliation as I walk out the door, Joe following closely behind.Nick is on the recliner pressing buttons on his cell phone, probably texting someone.Joe and I sat a seat on the couch that faces him."Nick..." I begin and his head snaps up."I know that youre probably a little freaked out by whatever it is that you saw," I keep my head down while I tuck loose hair behind my ears.Nick just holds in laughter. "Wait so are you guys likea thing?"I look at Joe who is looking at the ground, studying the white carpet like its his job."Sort of." I lift my eyes to see Nicks extremely amused face."Oh boy." He doesnt try to stifle his chuckles. "You and Joe? This is like the fucking twilight zone." Again, his curse words make my inside perk up at the rarity."Okay, I knowits strange. Its not something youd expect but umJoe and I""Are in love," Joe finishes for my nervous tongue and takes hold of my hand."This is a joke, right?" Nick says "You guys set this up!" "Nick its not a joke, its a secret and you cant tell Kevin or anyone for that matter." I tell him in an irritated tone."Kevins your best friend. Youre not going to tell him?" Nick looks a bit surprised."Eventually I will, but as of now no. No one was supposed to know and you have to pretend like you dont know either. Got it?" Trinidad & Tobago Express newspaper quoted Anderson Marcano as saying that he woke up because the dog kept barking and tugging at his pants. Marcano said he smelled the smoke and was shocked to find his house on fire.
