[please add &fmt=18 to end of video url for high quality audio] Disco Inferno was an experimental rock band from Essex that started out sounding like some late 70's/early 80's post punk band trying to fill a gap between bands like Joy Divison, Durutti Column, early Felt and Wire. Their first three releases - all on the small indiependent label Che - shows a band able to further develop the ideas they so respectfully and skillfully adopted from the prime of the British post-punk scene. "Broken" is the only track exclusive to the 1995 compilation of the bands first single, ep and album - "In Debt" - also on Che. I'm afraid these records are a pain in the butt to come by these days but I have at least seen one download site offering "In Debt". What can I say? Do yourslef a favor and grab it!

Their "Science EP" - released on the small indiependent label Che in 1991 - shows a band able to further develop the ideas they so respectfully and skillfully adopted from the prime of the British post-punk scene. "Waking Up" opens the EP by declaring that "A sky without a God is a clear, clear sky." This track and the three other tracks from the "Science EP" are also available on the 1995 compilation of the bands first single, ep and album - "In Debt" - also on Che. From the beginning, U2 aspired to profound ecstasy. But it took Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. a while to get there. Two of U2’s first three albums are undeniable classics: 1980’s precociously magnificent Boy for its proudly spiritual optimism in the thick of post-punk nihilism and for the Edge’s reveille-treble guitar...

The Mae Shi's work is typically marked by an obsessive urge to create and destroy: It crams many catchy riffs into a single, painfully short song, but then also adds carefully timed choral screams on top of the guitar-strewn snippets, turning the mess into a frantic, joyous post-punk collage.

Like Beck and the Raconteurs before them, Brit post-punk outfit Bloc Party are challenging the industry status quo, announcing the release of their new album less than week before it's set to arrive. That's right, Intimacy, the quartet's third full-length to date, will drop globally this Thursday, Aug. 21 as a digital download.

Though they're from the West Coast, Gran Ronde sounds as if they'd fit right in playing alongside Bloc Party or Interpol. The band's debut album, Secret Rooms, shows off a melodic, post-punk sound with 11 tightly produced songs (including bonus track "Control"). "Wisdom" is one of the more upbeat singles, with its jangly guitars, catchy hooks, and

Like most avid music fans, I love, and relate to, “High Fidelity,” both the book and the film. From the holier than thou, elitist crate diggers to the wide-eyed deep cut explorers, jazz cats, deep funksters, post-punkers, avant guardians, techno dweebs, psych nuts, world beaters, shoe gazers, minimalistas, and noiseniks.

War Tapes, a Los Angeles 4-piece, successfully creates epic anthems of angst, blending the attitude and edge of today's post-hard-core scene with an appealing nod to 80's new-wave and post-punk. All the while, War Tapes demonstrates a knack for creating huge hooks and sing-a-long choruses. This event submitted by http://culturemob.com
