I put together a 3 plate (neg pos neg) to test on my toyota for 4 wheeling, went 15 miles last night and everything worked great. decided to use only 3 plates for several reasons, it's only a 4 cylinder, the truck has a smaller alternator, it' will be idling most of the time over rocks and on trails). The amp draw was minimal, the blinker kept the unit and wiring cool, the output was decent and everything was dependable this way. I was able to use 3 and 4th where usually i had to use 2nd, starting in sandy washes did not require over revving the engine to move the 35 inch mud tires. all in all it was impressive for such a simple build.
