Wing Chun (chin. 詠春 / 咏春 „schöner Frühling) ist ein (süd-) chinesischer Kampfkunststil (in China mit dem Oberbegriff Wushu, im Westen mit dem Begriff Kung Fu bezeichnet).Gelehrt wird Wing Chun in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz in zahlreichen kommerziellen und nicht-kommerziellen Schulen, Verbänden und Vereinen. Der Name der Kampfkunst stammt aus dem Kantonesischen, deswegen gibt es keine eindeutige Romanisierung des Begriffes. Aus markenrechtlichen Gründen und um sich von anderen Schulen und Verbänden abzugrenzen, sind zahlreiche Schreibweisen gebräuchlich, so z. B. Wing Tsun (W.T.), Ving Tsun (V.T.), Wing Tzun, Wing Chung, Wing Shun, Wing Tsung, Ving Chung, Weng Chun, Wyng Tjun, Ving Chun, aber auch gänzlich andere Namen, wie z. B. Taonamics oder Tao Concepts.In Pinyin, dem offiziell verwendeten Romanisierungssystem des Hochchinesischen (Mandarin), werden die Schriftzeichen als Yǒng chūn transkribiert.Techniken:Im Wing Chun wurden alle Techniken auf ihre Wirkung hin maximiert. Die Bewegungen sind meist kurz und gerade (also entlang einer Geraden). In der Regel wird keine starre Muskelkraft, sondern die Elastizität des eigenen Bewegungsapparates ausgenutzt. Dies geschieht durch eine Kombination aus Gewichtsverlagerung (Schritttechniken) und spontaner schneller Streckbewegung (Peitschenkraft) mit einem relativ kleinen Anteil eigener Muskelkraft.Ein typisches Element einiger Wing-Chun-Stile ist der Kettenfauststoß. Man sagt, ein geübter Wing-Chun-Kämpfer könne davon etwa acht bis zehn Schläge pro Sekunde ausführen. Darüber hinaus entfalten alle Techniken erst in der Kombination miteinander ihre volle Wirkung, wobei es letztlich unerheblich ist, ob Fauststöße oder Handflächenschläge zum Einsatz kommen. Die Kraft des Gegners wird durch Schritttechniken, wie Wendungen, neutralisiert und gegen ihn verwendet (Gleichzeitigkeit von Angriff und Abwehr): Der Angriff ist die Verteidigung. Ein Schlag des Gegners wird so beispielsweise durch einen konternden Gegenschlag abgewehrt.Der Stil ist weiterhin durch seine Trittarbeit charakterisiert, die nur sehr wenige Grundtritte umfasst und mit der im allgemeinen nur niedrige Ziele bis etwa zur Höhe der Hüfte angegriffen werden. Ziele dieser Tritte sind insbesondere Kniegelenk, Oberschenkelansatz und Unterleib des Gegners.
