MacGyver è un popolare telefilm di avventura degli anni 80, che racconta le missioni dell'ingegnoso ex-agente segreto Angus "Mac" MacGyver, interpretato da Richard Dean Anderson (interprete anche della serie Stargate SG-1). Il telefilm è andato in onda negli Stati Uniti per sette stagioni, dal 1985 al 1992, ed ha ottenuto successo anche in Italia, trasmesso per la prima volta su Italia 1.La struttura tipica di un episodio di questa serie vede MacGyver ricevere l'incarico di risolvere una missione, dal suo capo Peter "Pet" Thornton, che è il presidente della Fondazione Phoenix, un non ben precisato ente governativo che si occupa della sicurezza mondiale. MacGyver è competente in molti campi scientifici (fisica, chimica, meccanica, elettronica, ecc...) ma soprattutto possiede un grande ingegno nel manipolare sostanze e oggetti di ogni tipo per creare trappole per i nemici o neutralizzare ogni genere di pericolo in cui va incontro, che sia un leone affamato oppure un ordigno nucleare. Odia le armi e l'unico strumento che si porta sempre con sé è un coltellino svizzero. Gli oggetti che manipola sono sempre e solo quelli che trova sul posto. Nei casi estremi, trova proprio tutto e solo ciò che può permettergli di salvarsi.Tra le sue prodezze, vi sono il riuscire a scappare dall'esercito russo costruendo una mongolfiera con vecchie lenzuola; distruggere la macchina del nemico di turno infilando una patata nel tubo di scappamento; tamponare le crepe di una vasca di acido con delle tavolette di cioccolato (in quanto quest'ultimo a contatto con l'acido diviene simile a del lattice isolante); simulare un atterraggio UFO creando un'illusoria navicella tramite un gas naturale che tra i fili dell'alta tensione genera una nube luminosa; e molte altre cose.Ogni episodio della serie presenta pillole di scienza che potrebbero tornare utili per qualsiasi fabbisogno, sia per la lotta al crimine che per la vita di tutti i giorni.MacGyver è altruista, positivo, non fuma e non fa uso di alcolici, è dotato di un certo humour e sa sacrificarsi per gli amici, ai quali cerca sempre di dare il buon esempio.Una volta morti i suoi genitori, l'ultimo parente rimastogli al mondo è il nonno Harry, anche se nell'ultima puntata della serie scoprirà di avere un figlio di nome Sean (chiamato però Sam, date le iniziali Sean Angus MacGyver).Si tratta di una serie molto apprezzata, vincitrice tra l'altro di numerosi premi tra cui anche il "Telegatto", nel 1992.MacGyver is an American adventure television series, produced in the United States and Canada, about the laid-back, extremely resourceful secret agent MacGyver, played by Richard Dean Anderson. MacGyver's main asset is his practical application of scientific knowledge and inventive use of common items—along with his ever-present Swiss Army knife and duct tape. The clever solutions MacGyver implemented to seemingly intractable problems—often in life-or-death situations requiring him to improvise complex devices in a matter of minutes—were a major attraction of the show, which was praised for generating interest in the applied sciences, and particularly engineering,as well as providing entertaining story lines. All of MacGyver's exploits on the show were ostensibly vetted to be based on real scientific principles (even though, the creators acknowledged, in real life one would have to be extraordinarily lucky for most of MacGyver's ideas to succeed). In the few cases where MacGyver used household chemicals to create poisons, explosives or other things deemed too dangerous to be accurately described for public consumption, details were intentionally altered or left vague.

David sings this 1953 number by Winkler, Rauch and Sigmund made famous by the great Nat King Cole. The ladies include Annette Pargeter, Ileana Cortrubas, Kiri te Kanawa and Liz Taylor. David is shown over a 40 year period. The last still shows him singing to students at Milton Keynes College, England in 2005.

The former minister's wife picked the girls up Friday from the slain man's parents. "She is absolutely overjoyed," her lawyer said. She spent only 12 days in jail.
