Rockamundo didn't hold his breath in the Arkansas Derby today. But he made everyone else breathless. The 3-year-old, whose recent defeats are attributed by trainer Benny Glass to the colt's tendency to hold his breath during races, scored a stunning 108-1 upset in Oaklawn Park's $500,000 prep for the Kentucky Derby. As the favorites fell apart one by one, Rockamundo slipped through on the inside past the pace-setter Foxtrail in midstretch, and with jockey Calvin Borel aboard, edged away to a one-quarter-length victory before a crowd of 70,022. His $218 payoff on a $2 win ticket was the highest in the race's 57-year history. "I try to be confident every time, but common sense told me this one didn't have a shot," Borel said.
