"Sooooo." The awkward stares continued until Ellie finally looked at her feet curling her toes in and balancing on the sides of them, she was almost how unware how absorbed she had been in the process until Nick spoke up, "having fun are we?" "Unless you have something better to do," she looked up and he was already walking down the stairs. "Hey, where are you going?" No response. She huffed and slid down the banister, hearing a light humming from around the corner and watched from near the door as Nick threw the clothes into the wash. "Glad you could find your way," "You were humming." "I know." "Are we going to do something?" Nick looked up and turned his attention from the capful of detergent in his hand to her. He glanced back to the washer to make sure he was putting it in the right place close the lid and pushed some buttons. He was fully focused on her now, he turned the lights off and closed the door as he walked towards her, leaving only two inches between the two of them. The silence was unbearable for Ellie but before she could act upon the feelings that were beginning to boil for this Jonas boy he spoke up. "Sure whatever you want," he shrugged and walked leaving her standing speechless for a minute he smirked at the sound of confused foot steps hitting the wood floors. He walked down a flight of stairs to the basement turned rec room. Ellie followed close behind. He shuffled for the light switch and began to point, "Board games, video games," he reached up with his other hand and scratched the top of his head as he continued, "television, Frankie's toys, or we could sit and talk on the couch." He made an abrupt stop and waited for Ellie to walk in front of him towards the activity of her choice. He was surprised when he saw her walk towards the mini living room set up, but instead of the couch she sat in the cushioned seat and pointed towards the adjacent couch for him. An awkward silence hung in the room. Nick picked up the television remote and began to watch. Ellie moved the couch seat next to him in order to see it without straining her neck. She heard him yawn and laughed when she looked to her left and saw his arm resting on her shoulder. She scooted closer to him and kissed his cheek smiling at the red forming right afterwards; there was no sense in fighting it anyways right?

"I'm sorry if it's messy, I share with my younger brother," he turned his hand on the knob and pushed the door in opening his eyes to see the floor scattered with stuffed animals and Frankie sleeping in the middle of the floor. He turned to her and winced, "Sorry." "It's fine, he's cute," she smiled up at him, her first act of kindness towards him. "Just, ummm wait right here." He walked into the room and carefully lifted the sleeping boy off of the ground and placed him on his bed. He slowly spun around the room picking up the scattered stuffed animals before motioning for her to come in. He pointed to a chair in the corner as he slowly opened up his closet. Ellie sat silently not wanting to wake the boy. Nick had a pile of clothes in his hand and leaned his head towards the door. He walked back into his room leaving it open just a crack.Ellie walked into the bathroom flipped the light switch and closed the door behind her in a matter of seconds. She peeled her wet layers off, while constantly avoiding looking at the large mirror. She dried what she could with the towel this Jonas boy had given her and then slipped into the oversized gray shirt and basketball shorts, which she guessed were Frankie's do to their length. She wrapped her clothes in the towel and sat against the boy's door. She fell back as soon as he opened it. "Sorry." "No big." "Here let me take those," he grabbed the clothes out of her hands and pulled her up to stand. "Thanks." He placed them in a chute along with his and smiled. "All done," Ellie just shook her head and looked around.

"Mhmm, just forgot where I was," she lowered her onto the arm of the sofa the opposite of where she was just seconds ago leaving Nick a bit sad. He positioned himself to stand up, "Leaving so soon?" A small smile formed on his face as he sat back down. "Well you were asleep, or so I thought and so I was just going to run upstairs..." "Well I'm up," Ellie slowly sat up and smiled widely. She liked it here, Nick was fun, she had learned his name as well as a few random facts during their conversation. "You know we have food and stuff if you want it." "Nah, I'm good thanks though. Can I call my mom so she doesn't go all missing kid on me?" Nick shook his before smiling and continued as he walked across the wood floor to a mini fridge where he got himself a diet Dr. Pepper and a regular one for her. "Yeah mom I'm fine. Yes I know should be less forgetful. Yeah I took them this morning. My phone's in the house. Oh alright then. Love you too."
