The 124-acre campus will eventually include an International Executive Conference Center that is also headquarters for Alliant's Marshall Goldsmith School of Management, and a Center for Innovation in Behavioral Health that will house Alliant's California School of Professional Psychology. "We're calling this renewal campaign our 'Bridge to the Future'," said Geoffrey M. Cox, Alliant's President. "The $5 million raised by the Bridge to the Future campaign will enable us to begin translating our vision for this campus into reality."President Cox expanded on the University's plans for the campus by saying, "The Marshall Goldsmith School of Management is meant to be a vital center for teaching and life-long learning. Incorporating business, organizational studies and international studies, the Goldsmith School and its conference center will be a resource for business, government and academic leaders from around the world."The Bridge to the Future will also allow us to complete plans for a Center for Innovation in Behavioral Health. We envision a state-of-the-art building for our faculty and students in psychology, marriage and family therapy and related fields. The building will combine space for teaching and research with clinical space that will serve the community," Cox said."This is the first phase of a multi-year project to assemble the resources needed to renovate the campus", said John DeMichele, Alliant's Vice President for Development and External Relations. "These new facilities will be unique resources for San Diego," he said. "The Bridge to the Future will help us complete our planning and build a base of support for this ambitious project." San Diego-based executive coach Marshall Goldsmith, for whom Alliant's management school is named, will join George Borst, CEO of Toyota Financial Services, to celebrate the campaign's kickoff at a "Construction and Cocktails" celebration on the campus on October 18.The new fundraising campaign comes on the heels of a banner year in philanthropy last year, the best in the University's history. "We have received a $3 million contribution and an additional $1 million matching challenge from former Board Member and longtime friend of the University Richard C. Hawk. These gifts have helped accelerate our redevelopment efforts. The Bridge to the Future will add further resources and draw more people into this exciting project," according to DeMichele. Cox added, "I'm especially pleased that our students have already raised $50,000 toward the Bridge campaign. This shows a great deal of enthusiasm within the University for this project."Although the cocktails won't be poured for another week, construction has already underway in Alliant's Walter Library, which will temporarily house the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management. The Library will house a new flexible learning environment that contains wireless internet, conference rooms, faculty offices, study areas and meeting rooms. The renovation, which is managed by ByCOR Company, with architectural and engineering assistance provided by Sillman Wright Architects, began in September 2007 and will conclude this December.
