Assignment: Take a bunch of footage from a location in your town and edit together a music video.I shot footage on a Saturday at the waterfront in Corvallis and mixed it in with a Chopin Nocturne (mainly because all my music is in Portland).Surprisingly, you can get quite "artsy" even in iMovie '08. I used a lot of desaturation for some clips, and very long dissolves.One thing I'd have liked to use is the kind of layers you can get with Final Cut Express, where you can have several videos playing simultaneously, or superimpose a semi-transparent clip on another.Still, the limitations of iMovie '08 force you to keep from getting lost in the details of the process, which is good, I guess.

Still, a little vlogging can't hurt, no?Production note: I used iMovie 08 to edit, and my MacBook cam (and microphone) to shoot. It's surprisingly effective in that its limitations force you to focus. Alas, though, but the ambient noise gets worse as time goes on because the MacBook fan kicks up.
