Aluminium in HCl and cupric sulfate

In a experiment to observe the reaction between cupric ions and aluminium with an amount of hydrochloric acid. Aluminium does react with a chloride solution, with a cuprous solution and with hydrochloric acid, but none as vigorous as cuprous ions with some hydrochloric acid added. This reaction is very exothermic and hydrogen chloride can be found boiling off the solution.
