A tradimento, l'amministratore si presenta con due signore, perché porta anche la zia che non sa dove collocare. Gianni, travolto e annichilito dallo scontro fra i tre potenti caratteri, si adopera eroicamente per farle contente. Accusa un malore e chiama un amico medico che lo tranquillizza ma, implacabile, gli lascia la sua vecchia madre perché è di turno in ospedale. Gianni passa ventiquattr'ore d' inferno. Ma ho anche visto la loro solitudine e vulnerabilità in un mondo che cammina a passo accelerato senza sapere dove va perché dimentica la sua storia, perde la continuità del tempo, teme la vecchiaia e la morte ignorando che nulla ha valore se non la qualità dei sentimenti.Nell'estate del 2000 realmente l'amministratore del condominio, sapendomi moroso, mi propose di tenere sua madre per le vacanze di ferragosto. In un sussulto di dignità rifiutai, ma da allora mi chiedevo spesso cosa sarebbe potuto succedere se avessi accettato.Questo è il risultato.Per le attrici, dopo aver incontrato delle professioniste, ho scelto delle signore che non avevano mai recitato, prive di vizi formali, in base alla forza della loro personalità.Durante le riprese mi hanno travolto, la storia cambiava in base ai loro umori ma l'apporto, in termini di spontaneità e verità, è stato determinante. Alcune riprese le ho addirittura rubate.L'attore che interpreta l'amministratore, Alfonso Santagata, è un grande attore di teatro.Gli altri, il dottore e l'amico di Trastevere sono realmente miei amici d'infanzia.In quanto a me, ho interpretato il ruolo protagonista perché in fase di preparazione, mentre spiegavo all'equipe che occorreva trovare un uomo di mezz'età, più o meno alcolizzato, che aveva vissuto per anni con la madre, tutti i visi si sono rivolti molto seriamente verso di me.Ho avuto il coraggio perché da ragazzo ho studiato regia ma anche recitazione con Alessandro Fersen
