Elliot Minor (formerly The Academy) are a classical influenced pop rock band from York, England. They cite among their influences Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin, The Used, Muse, The All-American Rejects, Queen, The Beach Boys and James Horner. Biography As Alex once said in an interview with music magazine NME the band's name is a tribute to Scrubs (TV series) character Elliot Reid (played by Sarah Chalke) and also an indication of the band's musical style with lots of Minor chords used. They named their piano Elliot after Chalke's character, and the Minor chords also come from the heavy use of a piano as is evident in their music. This is where the name "Elliot Minor" came from.
