AMV Contest Results ^_^

Hey guys, so here it finally is, the results of my cometition. Sorry it took so long, but it really was alot to get through and without the help of the judgsI think I'd still be going through it. And alot of people have been wondering about the 25 point thing, I'll explain that. It was just an easy way for us to determine who went through to the second round of judging. Don't worry about it too much. Anyway, here's the results so thanks again to everyone who entered and to the judges.

A Private Life [part II]

Date: September 3 2008A cannabis legalisation campaigner was today found guilty of possessing and cultivating the drug.It took a jury at Cardiff Crown Court just under 25 minutes to return the unanimous verdicts on Neil Morgan, who claimed he was fighting for "the right to exist".During a two-day trial, the 53-year-old told the court he had been growing cannabis for 30 years, and that this was the 15th time he had appeared in court charged with such offences.Morgan denied two charges of possessing cannabis and two charges of cultivating the Class C drug, but was found guilty of all offences.Judge Philip Richards told the jury in summing up: "We cannot live in a society where everyone is free to say: 'My view is that the law is irrational'."The law is determined by Parliament. The law doesn't work on the basis of what individuals think the law should be."He warned Morgan to expect to be jailed when he is sentenced later this month following a pre-sentence report, adding: "I'm not promising you anything. The likely sentence is going to be a custodial sentence." Morgan, who represented himself, told the jury during the trial: "You are all aware of the fact I grow cannabis, there is no doubt about that. I have to accept in law that I am guilty on that point."I'm fighting for the right to exist, no more than that."I'm not interfering with anyone's existence at all, I keep myself to myself and live quietly and peacefully."It's irrational discrimination to be allowed to produce alcohol without interference, yet I'm here before you trying hard to make a case for my liberty."That's why I'm appealing for the jury to help me out on this one." Neil is to be sentenced on 24th September

Sept. 5 Is Jury Rights Day. Do You Know Yours?
The next time you’re called for jury duty and the judge tells you “We don’t have that here; you must take the law as I give it to you,” you have two choices. You can tell him he’s lying (in which case he’ll send you home), or you can keep your mouth shut, get seated on that jury, and then tell your fellow jurors the guy in black has been lying.

McCain's Bait-And-Switch
On the basis of the convention so far, McCain wants to keep these views out of the public debate. That may help him win the election, but if he does win, and turns around and appoints judges that will overturn Roe v. Wade or gins up a new war with Iran without making a reasonable attempt at negotiations, he will breed fury and disillusionment...
