This is my video perspective of attending the 2008 Kansas City Downtown Airshow at the Charles B. Wheeler Airport. I scored an interview with Kansas City's own, Thunderbird Pilot Dyon Douglas! And check out footage "how it works" with the man who built a jet powered porta potty that goes over 70 MPH. I really had a great time, met great people -- it was fun sharing stories. It really is a great family event -- several families I met come every year.Check out my blog at:http://www.ramseymohsen.com

American Airlines is making job reductions at Kansas City International Airport, KMBC reported Wednesday.KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reported that some of the work being performed at the KCI Overhaul Base will be shifted to the Tulsa, Okla., repair facility next year.Sources told KMBC that on Thursday, 700 letters will go out to KCI maintenance workers stating that their jobs could be affected by the changes the airline is about to make.Although a statement from American Airlines does not state how many jobs will be affected, informed sources said the current American work force at the overhaul base could be cut dramatically. Right now, about 1,050 people work there. That number could drop to as few as 300 jobs. The overhaul base has the ability to work on 12 planes at once. Sources said after the job shift is over, they'll have the capacity to work on just two planes. The airline said the job cuts are coming as it tries to shift to more fuel-efficient planes and is dealing with the high cost of fuel."This is a result of broad action the company has to take given the challenges the airline and the industry face," an American representative told KMBC. "We're doing our best to keep Kansas City open with as much work as possible."In recent years, Kansas City and the state of Missouri have set aside millions of dollars for American Airlines to improve the overhaul base and protect the jobs there. Some of that money, according to sources, has been used to repair or replace the facility's roof, but much of the money has not been used.In 2009, the overhaul base will work on cabin improvements for American's 767 line. The base may also get work improving the fuel efficiency of the wings on the 767.Kansas City did the prototype work on improvements to the 757 aircraft and the 767 pylon work. Now, workers in Tulsa will get that assignment, Mahoney reported.Kansas City's best hope for more work is in American's ability to land outside contracts. The airline has said it plans to cut 1,300 union jobs and 200 management and staff jobs, but it won't know where the jobs come from until late fall.http://www.kmbc.com/news/17181724/detail.html#-
