Eight Belles, the Place horse in this year's Kentucky Derby, struggles to get to her feet while track personnel try to hold her down, after breaking both front ankles after running the Derby on May 3, 2008. The only filly entered in the race, she was euthanized on the track after veterinarians determined she could not recover from her injuries.
