The setting was the "Innovative Program School" at University High in Santa Monica. The school was designed to harbor social miscreants, and, not surprisingly, both Paul and Pat were admitted to the experimental facility. Also found on campus was future Black Flag bass player Kira Roessler. Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth graduated from the school.

The studios flooded the DVD market with John Wayne films for the centennial of his birth. A lot of them sucked; these didn't: In "True Grit," Wayne goes up against Kim Darby, who gave him a good barking onscreen and off, according to the extras. It's a rousing entertainment. In "Rio Bravo," the Duke goes drinking with Dean Martin and survives.

This movie is hilarious. But even better, the music is brilliant. There are 48 songs in the movie, from Lily Allen, Bright Eyes and Sublime, to Scorpions, Clash and Lil Kim. Not to mention a trifecta from Terence Trent D'Arby of all people. Random. Too bad the CD soundtrack is all score. But all the songs are listed and linked to iTunes here.
