HSV Channel 7 in Melbourne was the FIRST TV station to officially go to air in Melbourne on November 4 1956.In 2006, A number of Anniversary Specials aired including "Studio One".GOLD Logie winner, John Woods hosted this nostalgic look through the years at all the programmes produced at the Dorcas Street, South Melbourne Studio.This is Part 2.. From "TV Ringside" to "Seven's Big League", Channel 7 covered a World of Sport literally.Station Manager, Ron Casey introducing Boxing to Melbourne Loungerooms with "TV Ringside" with bouts actually taking place inside "Studio One" until it became too small and the show was moved to Festival Hall.Then there was Australian Rules Football or the VFL and now AFL which Channel 7 dominated for close to 5 decades.You'll see Lou Richards, Jack Dyer, Merv Williams, Ron Barassi and even a young John "Sammy" Newman.Studio One was also the location for Variety and "Sunnyside Up" was the first TV forray by 7 to capitalise on the great song, dance and comedic talent in Melbourne.WATCH OUT: For some classic Black and White Videotape and Kine recordings screening here that are in pristine condition even after more than 40 years in storage !!
