Maine has four votes. Texas has 34 votes. Page 542 of the current "The World Almanac and Book of Facts has an Electoral College Map, where you can find the vote numbers for each and every state.We have been given the gift of Sarah Palin. This means real hope. Governor Palin is an actual Real Person. John McCain is an actual Real Person. Their opposition, in my opinion, consists of two Virtual Phony Persons. But the Party Organization, again in my opinion, is much more potent on behalf of the VPP's.Some states (Texas, for instance) will likely deliver their Electoral votes for McCain/Palin. Today's nationwide figures of increased registration show that the Democratic Party has been busy and productive in its registration drive; the Republican Party less so. We can make the best of the next few days to add new voters, who intend to vote for McCain/Palin. Some states may have already closed out registration, but where they haven't, we need to "work, for the night is coming."Independents, nonpartisans and third party voters need our persuasion on behalf of John and Sarah. As a nonpartisan, I hope to provide thoughts, current and historical facts, to inform and explain. They will be "Delivered" in timely fashion. So far as I am able, I will try to answer questions.To begin with, the "vetting" question needs to be addressed. Historically, an egregious mistake was made by the Nixon camp in 1968. Spiro Agnew had been plumping for Nelson Rockefeller's nomination. Abruptly, he was apprised that his presence was not welcome on the Governor's ticket. He then 'switched' to Nixon's side, during the convention, and was eagerly accepted. My supposition is that Rocky had him vetted thoroughly. Nixon may not have even vetted Agnew perfunctorily.Remember who was named VP in Agnew's place?I'm told that many trips were made to Alaska during the early and late Spring by McCain operatives. You can bet that the purpose was to unmercifully vet Governor Palin. Things seldom 'just happen' in politics. Which brings me to this thought: I am about Senator McCain's age. Many a false start and mindless mistake have I made. But the Sea of Life is hard to navigate. One learns that sometimes submarine travel takes enemies unawares. So, my estimation of the Senator is that he is less bumptious, more canny, than he may have been earlier. In a crowded Primary field, he garnered about 35% of the vote. The others split 65% amongst them. I think he did have Sarah Palin thoroughly vetted, under the radar (sonar?), and may well have left both the Short List and Media persons in the dark until the morning of her introduction as his nominal running mate. He pulled a Total Coup. On Wednesday, Governor Palin perfected a Total Rout. They are each foxes, if you will. So we can take heart.
