Here is my next step in putting better quality video on an oscilloscope. I didn't change the circuit, just the scope. Here's how the system is set up:Video goes into the video to scope converter box. This circuit outputs 3 signals to the oscilloscope. The first is the Z-axis or picture information. The next is the vertical sweep. The last is the horizontal sweep, which in this setup, is used as horizontal sync. The vertical sweep is connected to the scope's vertical input. The horizontal sweep is connected to the scope's external sync input. The picture information is connected to the first grid of the CRT. This scope has a balanced deflection amplifier, allowing it to have better focus across the CRT screen. It also uses a multivibrator for the sweep generator, making the images look better horizontally. This is because its linearity is much better than the single pentode phantastron oscillator used in the tv to scope converter.Problems solved by this experiment:1. Good focus across the screen by use of balanced deflection amplifiers.2. Good horizontal linearity achieved by the use of a multivibrator.3. Horizontal overlap solved by use of a better quality horizontal oscillator.Problems yet to be solved:1. Vertical linearity should be fixed by using the same type of multivibrator used in the horizontal sweep circuit.2. Flyback lines should be solved by the addition of a blanking amplifier to the vertical sweep oscillator.3. Horizontal streaking should be solved by changing the video amplifier and input stage design.4. Video on the plate of the sync separator should be solved by re-designing the sync separator and including a sync amp and clipper.
