Season 1 Recap:M: Nat, do you want to go out with me?N: Erm, sure.A: Nat has other girlfriends.M: Tell Nat we're over!N: [Crying] What?!M: So, Allie was lying?N: Yeah, would she do a thing like that?A: Okay, I'm sorry.N: [Bites Allie's hand] It's my baby.M: What?!A: Arrrrgggghhh! The baby!!!A: I'm going to name her...Natalie.P: I'm sorry, you have to give her up and you two can't see each other.So, a year has passed now. Nat is 15, Allie is 17 and Natalie is going on 1. Nat and Allie have been seeing each other in secret for a year. Alex found out but they made him swear not to tell. Nat and Allie have had their odd share of break-ups but they're good. It is Natalie's birthday tomorro and she has been fostered by now. It is the most depressing part of the year for Nat and Allie and Polly knows that so she plans a surprise for them.P: Hey, guys!N: Hey, Mom.A: Hi, Mrs.Wolff.P: I know this is a depressing time for you both but I have a surprise for you tomorrow!N&A: Yay! We may be able to make trades. I once put an ad in the paper that said, "If it's free it's for me". I had to stop the add because I collected so much stuff. Ads do work. The problem with this ad was it was not specific enough to target what I was looking for. Over time and years I then started to swap and barter the free stuff that I got for things I really wanted. I had hundreds of broken lawn mowers and hundreds of gallons of old unwanted paint. I had enough paint to dip a house if needed. Disposal now became an issue. Thus I came up with the idea of trading and barter. Now I did not invent this wheel but I had enough of them that it appeared I might have. So barter has become a means of swapping and exchanging my surpluses for other people's surpluses. Since I am in the nursery business I also have plants that are surplus. I may plant 1000 trees expecting to need 1000 and find that I have 500 more than what I need. So offering these trees on the web for barter has been an effective means to move dormant inventory. Besides this is a great way to meet new customers. When they have surpluses and I can move their dormant stock, we both win. He has trouble walking so I have him doing his favorite job, separating and sorting nuts ( yes...nuts) and bolts and stray hardware we find around the farm. I would mix up what he has already sorted but he checks for that. He remembers just about each and every unusual item we bring him. He also knows where we store these items so hence I'm asking you.... did you have a relative like this....did you end up with piles and coffee cans of nuts and bolts and misc hardware that had to be saved and now can be reused by another old timer?
