Here, the Archangel was taken into custody because of the lack of a friendly ID code on the ship, and partly due to the Eurasian Federation's rivalry with the Atlantic Federation, who built the Archangel and the GAT mobile suits. Soon after, the ZAFT forces attacked the base, when its defenses were disabled by the GAT-X207 Blitz, and the ship was able to escape amidst the chaos that ensued. As the battle ended, the Eurasian Federation base had taken considerable damage, but remained somewhat intact. Pirates would raid Artemis whilst its defenses were down, and as a result, Commandant Garcia, commander of Artemis, would hire the mercenary group, Serpent Tail. After Serpent Tail has a run-in with the Junk Guild's Astray Red Frame, Artemis is once again damaged, but, as of June CE 71, remained a functional military outpost.
