Last weekend i had the privilege of accompanying my fiancée to visit an island not far away from my country. I had never visited this place in my life and did not know what to expect. To my surprise, it all unfolded around me. I was but merely a humble witness among others to a beautiful land that was beyond me. I saw the lush trees come alive to reach out to the heavens above. I saw creatures that i normally not take notice, become larger than life. I saw the heavenly skies whirling in an arc of a thousand emotions all rolled in one. I saw flowers as bright as the Sun. I saw sunkist boatmen weathered by the elements of nature.I was but an alien in a place untouched by modern infiltration. People drank water from the wells. I saw the words of a famous local blues guitarist painted on a rustic zinc wall. The swamps and roots sang to me in a majestic rhythm of the saints which engulfed me as i became oblivious to what the tour guide spoke in his routined narration of this place. It was almost as though this island was calling out to me in a bohemian language that i could never explain to you in a song.Yet there were buildings meticulously engineered like an artistic monument to facilitate city folks to enjoy nature at its best. This was a balance of the Ying and Yang or so i deduced to myself. The island on the other side of my home, is called "Pulau Ubin." Pulau Ubin is a Malay word for "Granite Island. " It belongs to a small country called Singapore. As Singapore is scarce of land space, the Government is in a dilemma whether to use this beautiful island for alternative purposes. All i can say is that i will be touched by its charming simplistic character for as long as it exists. I captured the moments with my outdated trustee Canon Ixus 40 which was kind to me to say the least. I hope you enjoy the moment. :o)Marshall
