[please add &fmt=18 to end of video url for high quality audio] Disco Inferno was an experimental rock band from Essex that started out sounding like some late 70's/early 80's post punk band trying to fill a gap between bands like Joy Divison, Durutti Column, early Felt and Wire. Their first three releases - all on the small indiependent label Che - shows a band able to further develop the ideas they so respectfully and skillfully adopted from the prime of the British post-punk scene. "Broken" is the only track exclusive to the 1995 compilation of the bands first single, ep and album - "In Debt" - also on Che. I'm afraid these records are a pain in the butt to come by these days but I have at least seen one download site offering "In Debt". What can I say? Do yourslef a favor and grab it!

"Shoegaze is a dumb term made up by clueless NME idiots," argues Mogwai's Stuart Brathwaite, a My Bloody Valentine fan as well as a friend of its architect Kevin Shields. "It's pretty demeaning as well. If someone called us shoegazers, I'd be pretty unhappy." For good reason.

"Shadow of a Mountain" by VIR is a dreamy and melodic shoegaze album that features good song writing and an innovative, experimental sound. The influence of early new wave punk is well represented in VIR’s sound, but they bring it to you in their own original way. http://www.radioindy.com/bands/4552/

Is there a genre called shoegaze-Americana? No? Maybe? Well, if there isn’t, now there is. And at the forefront? Philly-based the War on Drugs. “Taking the Farm” is urged on by a dusty-road shuffle, and complimented by some expansive guitar playing, culled from the same school as Mark Knopfler and Lindsey Buckingham. Fans of Band of Horses...

As one of the finest bands from the so-called shoegaze scene, Swervedriver released four stellar, underrated efforts during a chaotic career marred by label drama and changing pop culture tastes. Their reunion tour started last night, and it is loud. Wired caught up by phone with Swervedriver about whether the band will park for an extended stay.
