1936 Karl Schaefer - Austria (Mens History)

This is an honor roll of Men's skating icons. I post it however to commemorate the great Austrian skater, Karl Schaefer, who dominated the sport in the 1930s. A contemporary of Sonja Heine, Karl took two Olympic gold medals, 7 World titles (1930-1936), 2 silvers (28-29) and a bronze (27). Austria, although it has faded from skating prominence, still ranks 2nd, in total medals earned in Mens World competitions (with 53). It ranks 2nd in World ladies medals with 36, and 3rd in pairs with 27. Such was the early dominance of this sport which developed from the exhibitions and teaching of American Jackson Haines in Vienna. Tim Curry 1969 interview !! In French !! London Cast of HAIR

This has to be one of his first recorded interviews, maybe the first one. If I'm not wrong this was his first job, he was part of the Troupe in the musical Hair, not a leading role. But that experience and people he met there shaped part of his future early career as an actor. You can see the French reporter and Tim Curry walking in front of Shaftesbury Theatre at the beginning, later at the café the small interview goes like this:Q: Can you please tell me, from your perspective, what is the significance of the play?A: It's a play, firstly, of liberty... of love, of love... As an actor, I find that it is a liberating experience. A gesture of our confidence in the spectators, it's a gesture that... Q: Meaning in the purity of their look?A: yes...and our liberty.TRIVIA: The Original West End production of Hair opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London on 27th September 1968, and running for 1,998 performances until closure was forced by the roof collapsing in July 1973. The original London tribe included Sonja Kristina, Paul Nicholas, Richard O'Brien, Melba Moore, Elaine Paige, Paul Korda, Marsha Hunt, Floella Benjamin, Alex Harvey and Tim Curry.
