Mani MLA said that the eight budgets he had presented were attempts to enhance the quality of life of the lower middle class and create financial stability in the State. Referring to the recent debate spurred by the observations of CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Jyoti Basu and West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya on socialism, Mr.Mani said that Communist Parties in the country could not resist the global changes anymore. Mr. Basu's statement on socialism was a realization of the global changes in communism, he said.Class struggle has become outdated and classless society impractical. Dictatorship of the proletariat was reduced to absolute rule of the party in Russia. The notion that capitalism and socialism do not have alternative is not correct. The theory of "toiling class" is the right alternative, he said. Communism has become outdated and the communist leaders in West Bengal and Kerala were embracing capitalism. Pravasi Kerala Congress UAE Chapter leader Abraham P Sunny welcomed. Issac Pattaniparambil, and Communist Party leader Gopi, Biju Joseph also spoke.
