The James M. DuPont Meteorite Collection - In previous studies of several H chondrites [3], within the limits of sensibility of the Mossbauer spectroscopy no evidence of tetrataenite was found. Only in two favorable cases, Allegan (H5) and Tieschitz (H3), tetrataenite was detected in a small proportion similar to Trenzano. The James M. DuPont Meteorite Collection - studies [2] classified it as H3-4 chondrite. The analysed specimen is from the Museo di Scienze Naturali di Brescia. In this paper we report on preliminary results obtained by 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopic studies on metal particles of the Trenzano meteorite. The bulk of this chondrite showed a complex Mossbauer spectrum--as already observed with other chondrite samples [3]--arising from the superposition of several iron-bearing phases, like iron silicates, Fe-Ni alloys and troilite. Due to the high amount of silicates and troilite it is very difficult to identify the Fe-Ni 50-50 ordered phase (tetrataenite) in the bulk material.
