This is a slightly different version of the first race I posted on YouTube, Seattle Slew's victory over Affirmed in the first meeting of Triple Crown winners. It looks like the CBS version and not the track replay. Note the different graphics, and Chic Anderson's microphone stays on longer than the previous version. Unfortunately, there are some video imperfections in mid stretch. That was the case before translation to YouTube.The media struggled with the tobacco related title of this race for years. I remember varying references every time. Notice the final graphic says The Cup with no mention of Marlboro.

A photo taken during the early stages of the Belmont Stakes has revealed Big Brown was running with a loose shoe as the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner attempted to become the first Triple Crown winner since 1979, Newsday reported Monday.

Well it will be at least 31 years before we have a Triple Crown Winner or will we ever have one again? Horse Racing needs a Super Star to help the Sport. Many thought Big Brown was it and I have to admit I was one of those who thought he was going to get the job done.

Da’ Tara shocked the racing world in a major upset today was the winner of the 2008 Belmont Stakes. The Favorite, Big Brown failed to deliver on Triple Crown expectations. Da’ Tara, starting from position 6, had little trouble winning the race and was one of the distant contenders with odds 30/1 before the race at the online bookmaker.
