Landmark Communications Inc. has reached a deal to sell The Weather Channel Cos. The sale awaits regulatory approval and should be complete by year's end. The Weather Channel is the first Landmark property to go; the company has said it wants to sell all its businesses, including The Virginian-Pilot.

The purchase price was about $3.5 billion, according to a person who asked not to be identified because the terms weren't made public. The channel will be based in Atlanta and management will be provided by NBC Universal.

Location Based Weather on the iPhone needed!
One thing I'd really like to see is location based weather updates for the iPhone. I would have it so that the first location listed in the weather app would be one such that it would find your current location and then tell you what the weather is where you are.
